Amina is a Project Manager for the NS Health Authority where she leads diverse, multi-disciplinary teams that implement innovation in healthcare. Amina is also an avid humanitarian with a keen interest in projects that improve global humanitarian efforts, digital humanitarianism, population-centred care, survival outcomes and operational efficiency. Amina likes to push the frontier through creative innovation that makes the world better.
Amina’s current research focuses on Disaster Medicine Informatics and how innovation, technology and knowledge management can reduce morbidity and mortality in catastrophes. Of great interest is recent information by Medicines Sans Frontier indicating that 90 % of refugees they are treating have a prior diagnosis of chronic illness.
Amina’s prior masters thesis focused on “shared decision making”, specifically using theories and technology to engage the patient in their health journey. Her other research interests include: knowledge management; behavioural change through technology ; decision theory; usability of systems; patient engagement and personalization; innovation & workflow efficiency.
